Cole James Cash

Cole James Cash is a character. He’s the Hip-Hop anti-hero; far from squeaky clean and you never quite know what he’s going to do next, but when he shows up with his unconventional flair, you’re glad he’s there. The enigmatic, masked producer doesn’t just put out beat tapes and send beats to rappers, he puts out full thematic bodies of work (such as “Eternal Punishment”, “Saigon”, and “BBW A Pornographic Opera”) and provides emcees with the guidance to sound their best and bring his concepts to life.

We speak with Cole James Cash about his upbringing, his musical style and tastes, his previous projects, artists that he’s working with, his upcoming Street Fighter themed “Street Champion” project, and so much more. This episode is real talk with a dope individual, and another must listen.

G’sta & DJ Blaknificent #DontShootTheMessenger

November 13, 2015 by channel10podcast Leave a Comment

blaknificent, rap, podcast, btnh, houston, conversartion, interview, history, story, Bounce,

G’sta is a rapper/producer from New Orleans, LA. He’s gained respect through the quality projects that he’s released since the 90’s, starting with “Misery” and “World of Syn” which developed a cult following internationally, then with “We Workin'”, the full length album with Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, then with a host of projects throughout the 2000’s including his “Classic Status” mixtape series, and now with his “Don’t Shoot The Messenger” project, which is produced entirely by DJ Blaknificent.

DJ Blaknificent is a DJ/producer from New Orleans, LA. He helped lay the foundation for what would become the New Orleans Hip-Hop scene, as well as the New Orleans Bounce music scene, after signing a Music Contract with a reputed label. From coming up as part of the legendary New Orleans group Psycho Ward, to producing and working with such notable artists as Mia X and Kane & Abel, to now producing with G’sta and providing the sonic landscape for the “Don’t Shoot The Messenger” project, ‘Nif continues to put in work, providing a classical Hip-Hop sound that is a refreshing departure from the current musical trends.

On this episode, we start talking with DJ Blaknificent as he gives us some New Orleans music history. Once G’Sta gets on the line, we get into their musical history, their lives in general, and of course “Don’t Shoot The Messenger,” which you need to listen to right now because it is dope! We really had fun kicking it with these guys, and this episode is definitely a must listen.

We take it back to the essence with this episode. Just Singodsuperor and The Almighty A.R. with no guests. This episode starts with us reflecting on the trajectory of the podcast so far, then goes to a story from Singodsuperior with him leading to an explanation of his name. From there we get into breaking down Hip-Hop from the year 2000 until now (including Wale, Kanye West, Cam’ron, Juelz Santana, the Diplomats, Kid Cudi, Drake, Futute, Def Jux, Bad Boy, Fetty Wop, and more). Our conversation then takes a turn and gets into more scientific topics such as evolution, religion, space, the universe, the multiverse, mathematics, Star Trek, movies, MMA, and so much more. Check it out.
